Fully Fund Supportive Housing in 2010 State Budget!
As our members know, supportive housing faces substantial cuts in both the Governor's budget and the budgets passed by the state assembly and state senate. Below is some basic information about the funding reductions. Details on the effects of each cut are available HERE.
SRO Support Services needs funding at $22.2 million
Without at least $22.2 million, 38 newly-opened and soon-to-open supportive housing residences will receive no SRO funding, and will not be able to pay for front desk security and case management services.
SHFYA needs $5 million restoration
The only statewide program that funds supportive housing families and youth was zeroed out in the Executive Budget, restored in the Senate resolution, and funded at only $1.47 million by the Assembly.
DOH-AIDS Institute NY/NY III needs $2.7 million
This funding stream requires a $2.7 million restoration to fund DOH/AIDS Institute’s New York/New York III Agreement service funding commitment at $6.6 million.
